La Palma Real Estate & Homes for Sale in California
Homes for Sale
This primarily bedroom community located in northwest Orange County is close to the Los Angeles County line. In the 1950s, when development in Orange County was beginning, La Palma was the home of dairy farms. The city was incorporated first as Dairyland. When the dairies moved out of the area, the city was renamed La Palma (the palm) to celebrate the Spanish influence in Orange County. The low crime rate and fierce city pride shown in the immaculate neighborhoods make La Palma a desirable place to live. The city does not have its own school district. Children in grades K-12 attend schools located within La Palma city boundaries that are run by the Cypress, Centralia, Buena Park, Fullerton and Anaheim school districts. There are several privately operated preschools in the area, and the community center in Central Park provides activities for older children. Several colleges and universities are in proximity for those who wish to attain a degree in higher education. The city offers Little League and soccer. Central Park is the gathering place for city residents, with the Civic Center located there. Just off of Central Park is the library and La Palma Intercommunity Hospital. Industries that provide employment in La Palma include educational, health and social services, manufacturing and retail trade. La Palma offers excellent shopping and dining. Real estate options consist of single-family detached homes for sale, estate properties, condominiums, townhouses and land lots for custom home building.
