La Palma This primarily bedroom community of 16,000 people is located in northwest Orange County and is close to the Los Angeles County line. In the 1950s, when development in Orange County was beginning, La Palma was the home of dairy farms. The city was incorporated first as Dairyland. When the dairies moved out of the area, the city was renamed La Palma (the palm) to celebrate the Spanish influence in Orange County.
